Work

Clients depend on me to advise and execute on all things marketing, whether you’re starting out and need to develop everything from scratch, want to go in a new direction, or have things running smoothly and need a steady hand  to keep it going.

Collaboration is key to success. I like to start with an intensive learning process, because, before I can offer any meaningful advice I need to learn all about what you do. This involves research into your product and company and a lot of questions.

Once I’m up to speed with the objectives the real marketing work can begin.

Marketing can mean a lot of things. Here are a few examples of the kinds of projects I’ve worked on.

  • Collaborated with a PR partner to help Ohana Health Plan improve communications to healthcare providers, state agencies, legislators, non-profit organizations, as well as current and prospective members. A few examples of my copywriting and production management roles are available here.
  • Conceived and implemented a new online booking engine and marketing campaign for a major Hawaii transportation company that has averaged 13,000 reservations annually and over $1,800,000 in revenue over the past 5 years.
  • Managed branding, marketing and advertising for a major Oahu visitor attraction, increasing gate sales from $88,000 per year to over $240,000 per year in a six-year period.
  • Managed a team consisting of client, client’s app vendor, and client’s business partner to develop a partner-branded version of the client’s app. Challenges ranged from the technical to the interpersonal, including UI/UX issues, Google Maps integration, selecting app features to enable or disable, a team spread across multiple time zones, as well as some language barriers between the app developer and client’s partner. This project required flexibility, availability, and detailed attention, while still managing goals at the broader level. The apps enabled the partner’s customers to book their own services with my directly, saving countless hours of phone calls and data entry for client and partner.
  • Pioneered adoption of digital advertising strategies within agency, generating an additional $200,000 in annual sales, with a 33% higher income percentage than traditional advertising.
  • Managed marketing for Honolulu’s largest-ever condominium hotel conversion, selling out over 1,100 units in record time and generating an estimated $330,000,000 in revenue.

These are some of the clients and ad agencies I have worked with in my 22 years of marketing and advertising in Honolulu.
